Polk County Sheriff's Robbery detectives are seeking information about an armed personal robbery and shooting that occurred in Lake Wales.
Around 11:30 p.m. on May 31, 2012, the four adult male victims were sitting in a garage in the 2300 block of Lilly Street in Lake Wales watching a basketball game on television when two unknown black males walked up to them from the back of the house, pointed a handgun at them, and demanded their money. When the victims tried to run, one was shot in the abdomen and another one was pistol-whipped in the face. Two other victims were not injured. The suspects took money and personal property from some of the victims, and fled the scene.
The victim who was shot was airlifted to Orlando Regional Hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injury. The victim who was struck in the face with the gun was taken to Lake Wales Medical Center.
The armed suspect is described as: a black male, 6'2" to 6'3", 180 lbs., wearing a red bandanna over his face, blue jeans, a red T-shirt with black writing on the front of it, armed with a silver .40 caliber handgun. There is no description of the second suspect.
