With the assistance of the Bartow Police Department, 31-year-old Vinzena S. Wardell, 2881 91 Mine Road Bartow, has been taken into custody.
Wardell was located on the railroad tracks at Polk Street near Mill Avenue at approximately 7:34 am, this morning, Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Bartow Police attempted to make contact and Wardell again fled the scene.
She was subsequently apprehended by a Bartow K-9 team in the parking lot of the city public works building just west of Mill Avenue on Boulevard Street. Wardell was transported to Bartow Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries sustained during the K-9 apprehension.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a Felon; 31-year-old Vinzena S. Wardell, 2881 91 Mine Road Bartow.
Wardell is wanted on multiple charges to include Failure to Appear, Grand Theft, Scheming to Defraud, Exploitation of the Elderly, Resisting Arrest, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Escape.
At approximately 8:30 pm, PCSO deputies arrested Wardell at her residence and she was taken into custody. During the arrest Wardell resisted and began to struggle. Deputies were forced to use an agency issued Taser to gain control. Wardell was taken to a local hospital and medically cleared.
Wardell was subsequently transported to the Central County Booking facility at approximately 12:13 am, where she managed to open the door of the patrol car and escape. She was restrained at the time.
Wardell was last seen wearing only black pants. She is approximately 5’1” tall and weighs approximately 220-230 pounds.
