Information Sought In Copper Wire Theft And Damage  Sought 

Polk County Sheriff's detectives are seeking information about the theft of copper wire and the damage caused during the thefts at Tampa Electric (TECO) power plants on two different occasions in March 2008.

On March 18, 2008, unknown suspect(s) stole copper wire from transformers at the TECO Imperial Lakes power station. On March 20, 2008, possibly the same suspect(s) stole copper wire from the TECO Moores Lane power station, and during that theft caused over $500,000 worth of damage to TECO equipment and a power outage in the city of Mulberry.
