Information Sought In Armed Personal Robbery  Sought

Polk County Sheriff's Robbery detectives are seeking information about an armed personal robbery that occurred in Lakeland on Monday, April 21, 2008.

Around 2:30 p.m. that afternoon, the victim was riding her bicycle home from the grocery store near 2nd Street and North Davis Avenue in Lakeland when she noticed an unknown black male riding his bicycle behind her. As she approached the intersection of 2nd Street and North Davis, the suspect rode his bike in front of hers and stopped it, blocking her way. The suspect then pulled out an unknown type of firearm from his shorts pocket and demanded money from the victim. The suspect stole her groceries and then fled north on his bicycle.

The victim and a witness completed composite sketches of the suspect, which are seen here. These sketches are of the same suspect, but differ slightly in appearance due to two different witnesses describing him. He is described as a slender black male in his 20’s, 6’ to 6’2” tall, wearing a grey T-shirt and black shorts, and was riding a dark-colored bicycle.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Det. Sam Bunch at 1-800-226-0344 or (863) 534-6379.
