On 04/27/2006 members of the HIDTA Task Force arrested three subjects for Trafficking in Cocaine. The subjects were arrested during an undercover investigation during which they delivered two kilograms of cocaine to the Holiday Inn Hotel located at 1150 3rd Street in Winter Haven. Suspects Rene ESPINOZA, Carlos ROSAS, and Ruben ESPINOZA were arrested without incident as they arrived at the hotel with two kilograms of cocaine. Suspect ROSAS was carrying a loaded Colt model 1911 .45 caliber pistol in his waistband at the time of his arrest. Total weight of the seized cocaine is 2,096 grams, which equals approximately 4 pounds 10 ounces, or just over two kilograms. Street value of the seized cocaine is estimated at $168,000.00. All three subjects, who are U.S. citizens, were booked into the Polk County Jail on state charges, however, this case will ultimately be prosecuted in the Federal court.
