The Polk County HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Task Force, which
includes members working undercover from PCSO, FDLE, WHPD, LPD, and Lake Wales PD, arranged to meet two men and buy from them 3 pounds of “ice” or methamphetamines on Wednesday, October 20, 2005, at the Eagle Ridge Mallparking lot in Lake Wales.

The following individuals, both believed to be from Georgia, showed up to complete the drug deal, and were arrested:

Huber Ortiz Gonzalez, DOB 1/18/81, of 4977 Main Street in Atlanta, was charged with 1 ct. Trafficking Methamphetamine (over 200 g) and 1 ct. Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine.

Jose Ruiz-Zaragoza, DOB 8/14/75, with no known address, was charged with 1 ct.
Trafficking Methamphetamine (over 200 g) and 1 ct. Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine.

Both men were booked into the Polk County Jail—Gonzalez will be extradited back to Georgia, and Zaragoza, once his true address is determined, may be extradited as well if he is from out of state. The Toyota 4-Runner they were driving was seized and the Sheriff’s legal staff will pursue forfeiture of the vehicle.
