Following a joint undercover operation with the Tampa DEA Multi-Agency Task Force, Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested four Miami men early this morning (at 1:45 a.m.) on drug charges. During the operation, deputies seized over 400 pounds of cannabis.
Arrested and charged were:
During the on-going undercover operation, suspects Carlos and Gustavo Diaz originally agreed to deliver 1,200 pounds of cannabis to the undercover detectives in exchange for $400,000. Upon arrival at a pre-arranged meeting this morning in the area of I-4 and U.S. Highway 27, the suspects offered 15 pounds as a show of "good product." Deputies conducting surveillance of the undercover operation determined that suspects Rodriguez and Cesar also were involved in the drug delivery, and upon search of their vehicles, discovered an additional 400 pounds of cannabis (estimated street value of $260,000). Gustavo was found to be in possession of a handgun during the operation. All four suspects were arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail on $1million bond each. The investigation is continuing.
