Sheriff's Office to Participate in Buckle up Florida Campaign

The Polk County Sheriff's Office, working with the Community Traffic Safety Team, is currently taking part in the Buckle Up Florida campaign to reinforce the buckle up message. Buckle Up Florida is a statewide initiative to raise safety belt use and child passenger safety.

Motorists are reminded that laws pertaining to safety belt usage have as much importance as those pertaining to speeding or other traffic safety issues. The Sheriff's Office will be participating in an enhanced child and seat belt enforcement campaign through May 29, the end of the Memorial Day weekend.

During the long holiday weekend, the Sheriff's Office will also be working with the Community Traffic Safety Team to enforce drinking and driving at a sobriety checkpoint in the Lakeland area.
