Two Arrested, Charged in String of Burglaries

Polk County Sheriff's Office Robbery Unit detectives arrested two brothers in December on charges stemming from a string of burglaries that have occurred at numerous construction sites and new subdivisions under development in East Polk County.

The following were arrested and charged:

John Wesley Anderson, DOB 10/19/61, of 5709 Little Eva Road in Haines City; charged with:

  • 18 counts Burglary to a Structure
  • 9 counts Grand Theft
  • 11 counts Criminal Mischief
  • 5 counts Petit Theft
  • 1 count Grand Theft Auto
  • 1 count Burglary to a Conveyance
  • 2 counts Trespassing
  • 1 count Felony Criminal Mischief

Ricky Dale Anderson, DOB 7/25/70, of 3992 Olson Road in Davenport; charged with:

  • 14 counts Burglary to a Structure
  • 9 counts Grand Theft
  • 8 counts Criminal Mischief
  • 5 counts Petit Theft
  • 1 count Grand Theft Auto
  • 1 count Burglary to a Conveyance
  • 2 counts Trespassing
  • 1 count Felony Criminal Mischief

Detectives believe the suspects broke into at least 21 structures under construction along US Highway 27 (area near Davenport.) The suspects took metal, wire and construction scraps to sell to a recycling company. They were arrested on Dec. 24, 1999, at John Anderson's residence in Haines City. Additional charges from other law enforcement agencies are pending. The Haines City Police Department is charging the suspects with six burglary cases, and the Lake Hamilton Police Department is charging them with two cases.
