Following a joint investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office Computer Crimes Unit, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office and the Central Florida Child Exploitation Task Force, detectives arrested a Deland man Sunday morning (Feb. 27, 2000) on child pornography charges for soliciting a child for sex via the Internet.
James Thomas Tucker, DOB 11/4/64, of 931 North Clark Road in Deland, was arrested at Shoney's Restaurant located at US 27 North (near Haines City) around 9 a.m. Sunday morning and charged with:
The undercover joint investigation revealed that Tucker used the Internet to solicit and arrange a meeting for sex with a boy whom he thought was 15 years old. The "boy" actually was an undercover detective. During the investigation and ongoing exchange between the suspect and the detective, Tucker sent 10 photos of child pornography via the Internet to the detective. Tucker arranged to meet the "boy" for a sexual encounter on Sunday morning at a Polk County restaurant. He was arrested by Polk detectives upon his arrival at the restaurant. During the arrest, detectives discovered at least one image of child pornography in Tucker's vehicle. Volusia County detectives executed a search warrant at Tucker's residence following his arrest. Computer equipment found at his residence was taken into evidence. Additional charges are expected pending examination of the computer evidence. The investigation is continuing.
