Joint Investigation Leads to Arrest on Outstanding Fugitive Warrant

A joint investigation conducted by detectives with the Polk County HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Traffic Area) Task Force, the Polk County Sheriff's Office Methamphetamine Suppression Unit and United States Marshals Office Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team resulted in the arrest of one individual on an outstanding fugitive warrant. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the Plant City Police Department also assisted with the arrest.

Detectives arrested Dustin C. Adkins, DOB 09/24/76, no known address, at the Ramada Inn located at 2011 Wheeler Street in Plant City. Adkins is charged with an outstanding Polk County warrant and an outstanding federal warrant. During the arrest, detectives confiscated 3.5 grams of methamphetamine, 40 grams of cannabis and in excess of $23,000.

During the 3 month investigation over 1 ounce of methamphetamine and in excess of $18,000 has been confiscated from associates of Adkins. Adkins may be associated with the Auburndale street gang known as the "A-Dale Clique." The investigation is continuing.

Arrested with Adkins was his girlfriend Joy Bennett, who faces charges from the Plant City Police Department. No other information about Bennett was available. Both individuals have been booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.

The Polk County HIDTA Task Force includes detectives from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Lakeland Police Department, Winter Haven Police Department and Haines City Police Department.
