On July 7, 2000 members of the Polk County Multi-Agency HIDTA Drug Task Force arrested Heriberto Saenz, DOB 8/31/58 of 1508 1st Ave. W. in Auburndale, after a joint month long investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine in the central Polk County area. The DEA HIDTA Methamphetamine Task Force, the US Border Patrol and the Florida Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Services also assisted in the investigation. Saenz was arrested at his residence after agreeing to sell five (5) pounds of methamphetamine to undercover agents in exchange for $40,000. The Haines City Police Department agent assigned to the task force was the case agent in this investigation. The methamphetamine has a street value of $250,000. Saenz has a prior criminal history for drug distribution and was previously arrested by US Customs for distributing 30 pounds of marijuana. Saenz has been previously deported by INS and is a criminal alien. Saenz bond was set at $750,000.
Forfeiture proceedings to seize Saenz' residence at 1508 1st Street in Auburndale are pending by the US Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida.
The Polk County Multi-Agency HIDTA Task Force is comprised of members of the Haines City Police Department, Winter Haven Police Department, Lakeland Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration and Federal Bureau of Investigation. The task force has made over 75 trafficking in controlled substances arrests, seized over 30 pounds of methamphetamine and one kilogram of cocaine, seized 10 vehicles and $150,000 in cash for forfeiture since its inception.
