Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives are continuing their search for a missing 52-year-old Lakeland woman who possibly was abducted by an ex-boyfriend early this morning (Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000).
Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating the suspicious disappearance of Cheryl E. Burns, DOB 9/13/47, of 1211 West Oak Drive in Lakeland. She was reported missing at approximately 1:30 a.m. this morning by her roommate who called to report that their residence apparently had been broken into, and there were signs of an apparent struggle.
Detectives could not locate Burns at that time, and her vehicle - a red 1999 Pontiac Grand Am - also is missing. Detectives believe that Ms. Burns possibly was abducted by her ex-boyfriend, Forest Snedegar, DOB 7/22/57, of 1234 Lot 147 Reynolds Road in Lakeland. Ms. Burns received an injunction for protection against Snedegar on Sept, 11, 2000, reference a previous assault and burglary against Ms. Burns. Snedegar also could not be found during follow-up investigation into Ms. Burns' disappearance.
Detectives are searching for the pair, and have issued a state-wide
bolo with the following descriptive information:
Detectives believe Snedegar possibly is armed. Anyone with information or who believes they may have seen the pair or the vehicle is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 533-0444, or to remain anonymous, call Polk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS.
