20 Arrested During Investigation Targeting Underage Drinking

The Polk County Sheriff's Office Bureau of Special Investigations Vice Unit, Tactical Drug Unit, Auto Theft Task Force Patrol Unit, along with the Department of Alcohol, Beverage and Tobacco arrested and charged 17 individuals Friday, May 20, 2000 with possession of an alcoholic beverage by a person under 21 years of age and 3 adults with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The joint undercover operation targeting underage drinking is in response to complaints to the Sheriff's Office about underage drinking at the Lakeland Drag Stip, AKA the Lakeland Mud Bog, located at 8300 Highway 33 North in Lakeland. Roy Spiker, DOB 11/06/48, of 1363 Berkley Road in Auburndale, owner of the business, was arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and cited for violation of the county water restriction.

The following were arrested and charged with possession of an alcoholic beverage by person under 21:

The Department of Alcohol, Beverage and Tobacco also arrested 4 juveniles and 2 adults during the operation. The Polk County Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate and enforce underage drinking in the county.
