Detention Deputy Arrested; Charged With DUI

Following an early morning investigation, Polk County Sheriff's Office Detention Deputy Dewey Gilford Addison, Jr., DOB 11/14/72, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (of alcohol) with a blood alcohol level of .118.

The investigation began after the Polk County Sheriff's Office received a call at 2:20 a.m. in reference to a careless driver in the area of Crystal Beach Rd. in Winter Haven. Polk County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to the area and observed a 1999 GMC pick-up truck driven by Addison swerving on the road. Deputies conducted a routine traffic stop and field sobriety test which Addison did not pass.

Addison was arrested without incident, and booked into the Polk County Jail. Addison was released after posting a $500 bond. Addison has been suspended with pay pending a review of the charges.
