PCSO COPS Golf
Tournament Raises Over $21,000 for Children and the Elderly
The 8th Annual Polk
County Sheriff's Office Community Oriented Policing (COPS) Golf Tournament
that was held on Saturday, October 6, 2001, at Ridgewood Lakes Golf and
Country Club raised $21,603 for underprivileged children and elderly
residents of Polk County.
The 36 teams that participated in the event enjoyed great weather, a
beautiful golf course, and received a variety of prizes that were donated
by local corporations. This year's top three 4-man teams were
Phoenix Industries, MBM, and Bernie Little Distributors Inc.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office would like to thank all of the corporate
sponsors that donated money and items that were either given away as door
prizes or auctioned off at the event. The Sheriff's Office also
would like to thank all of its members and members of the community who
volunteered at the event.
All funds raised at the tournament will help the Polk County Sheriff's
Office COPS units purchase Christmas gifts for underprivileged children
and elderly citizens in Polk County.
