Sheriff's Office Investigating Death of Frostproof Woman

Polk County Sheriff's Office Detectives are investigating the overnight shooting of a Frostproof man and woman at their residence.

At approximately 10:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, the Frostproof Police Department responded to a shooting call at 17 Beverly Drive in Frostproof. Upon arriving at the scene, Officers found Maritha Gomez, DOB 5/22/62 deceased in a bedroom at the rear of the house from a single gun shot to the head. 

Officers also found her boyfriend, Vicente Bravo, DOB 3/11/62 of the same address, with an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound to his facial area. Bravo was airlifted to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. 

The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case in conjunction with the Frostproof Police Department. There have been no charges filed and the investigation is continuing.
