Suspect Arrested in Gerber Dairy Road Shooting

Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested a suspect this morning for his involvement in the shooting of Brigido Alfaro on Dec. 26, 2001.

Alfaro, 21, of Bartow,  was shot twice in the head while sitting in a car at the intersection of Gerber Dairy Rd. and Bomber Rd. in Bartow.  At approximately 9:15 pm., residents witnessed at least 2 men pulling Alfaro out of his car and assaulting him. 

The suspect, Juan Carlos Loredo, 26, of 1975 Gerber Dairy Rd. in Bartow, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. this morning in his home.  He is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Armed Burglary, and Armed Robbery. 

The investigation of Alfaro's shooting continues as detectives search for additional suspects.
