The Polk County Sheriff's Office will hold an auction of abandoned and unclaimed property on Saturday, February 10, 2001, at the Polk County Agricultural Center, Stuart Building, located at 1702 U.S. Highway 17 South in Bartow.
Registration and preview of items will begin at 8 a.m., with the auction beginning promptly at 9 a.m. All items will be sold AS IS with no warranty and/or guarantee.
Items to be sold include: television sets, VCRs - Video Cassette Recorders, electronic equipment, stereos, speakers, electric tools, car parts, garden equipment, bicycles and much, much more. A 10% buyers premium will be added to all bids and checks and credit cards will not be accepted (cash only please).
Proceeds from the auction with be utilized to subsidize the Sheriff's Office S.A.V.E. - Substance Abuse and Violence Education - program, which is a ten-week educational program created by the Polk County Sheriff's Office and taught in middle schools throughout the county. The program is designed to address the issue of substance abuse, and other problems facing the youth of today, such as violence, gang resistance and cultural diversity. Proceeds will purchase workbooks, t-shirts and other miscellaneous items for the students.
