Timothy George Gregory of Lake Wales Arrested For
First Degree Murder and Armed Burglary

Detectives with the Polk County Sheriff's Office arrested 59-year-old Timothy George Gregory of 1800 Shady Oak Camp Street #204, Lake Wales, for the murder of 48-year-old David Starr of 3531 North Scenic Highway #4, Lake Wales.

Mr. Starr was house-sitting at #202 Shady Oak Camp Street when Gregory shot him in the head at approximately 7:40 p.m. Tuesday night, June 11, 2002.  Gregory told witnesses and detectives that he saw Mr. Starr kissing his wife at the #202 address earlier in the evening.

Detectives believe that after Gregory allegedly saw Mr. Starr and the wife kissing, he returned to his own home at #204, two doors down. He returned to #202 approximately 45 minutes later armed with a .357 Magnum handgun, entered the residence, and shot Mr. Starr. Mr. Starr died at the scene.

Witnesses at the scene stated they saw Gregory enter the #202 residence with a handgun, heard a single gun shot, then saw Gregory leave the residence, still in possession of the handgun.  Deputies responded to the scene, arrested Gregory, and recovered a handgun, a Smith and Wesson model 686 .357 Magnum, believed to have been used in the murder.

Gregory is in the Polk County Jail with no bond.
