Employee Relations Manager Thomas B. Cook, of the Polk County Sheriff's Office Human Resources Division, recently earned certification as Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) from the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).
Mr. Cook successfully passed a comprehensive 4-hour examination, covering seven categories of human resources expertise, administered by the Human Resources Certification Institute, and met additional qualifications established by SHRM.
Before joining the Sheriff's Office, Mr. Cook served 26 years with Scotty's Corporation and served as Vice President of Resources and Facilities for Early Childhood Resources in Lakeland.
“Achieving these prestigious credentials is solid evidence of the level of professionalism and dedication demonstrated by members of the Sheriff's Office Human Resources Division,” said Polk County Sheriff's Colonel Grady Judd, Commander of the Department of Administration.
The Human Resources Division conducts the agency's recruiting and staffing programs, benefits programs and employee relations functions.
