Offense: Falsifying Records of the Department of Children and Family Services, F.S. 839.13 (2)(C), 3rd Degree Felony.
Probable Cause: On or about July 9, 2002, Erica Jones, a Child Protective Investigator, with the Department of Children and Family Services, did knowingly falsify, by altering, defacing or overwriting records of the Department of Children and Family Services with the intent to conceal a fact material to a child abuse protective investigation regarding Rheyna Montes, date of birth 11/21/97, and Alfredo Montes, date of birth 10/27/99, which was assigned to Child Protective Investigator Erica Jones, in violation of Florida Statute 839.13(2)(cC), a third degree felony.
On July 11, 2002, Special Agent Martha Myers interviewed Erica Jones. Investigator Erica Jones admitted under oath on July 11, 2002, that on July 9, 2002, she created and altered records of the Department of Children and Family Services by falsely indicating that she had visited the home of Alfredo Montes and Rheyna Montes on July 1, 2002, and observed the children to have no marks or bruises.
