There will be a News Conference and briefing on Monday, July 22, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wyndham Hotel located at 4860 West Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa. The format will include several experts speaking for approximately 15 minutes, followed by a briefing with the media. This news conference should last about one hour.
As you are aware methamphetamine has been in the news recently, regarding endangered children and drug abuse. This news conference will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about the impact of methamphetamine and strategies for dealing with the issue. There will be a panel of Law Enforcement and Health Care Professionals who will provide various comments pertaining to legal issues, healthcare, prevention, treatment and the impact of meth on our community.
The panel will consist of Sheriff Lawrence W. Crow, Jr., Polk County Sheriff's Office; ASA Hutchinson, Director of Drug Enforcement Administration; The Honorable Paul Perez, US Attorney; Commissioner James T. Moore, Florida Department of Law Enforcement; Sheriff Cal Henderson, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office; Dr. Daniel Haight, Polk County Health Department; and The Honorable Judge Jack Espinosa, Jr.,13th Judicial Court.
Sheriff Lawrence W. Crow, Jr. will speak about the Alfredo Montes Homicide Investigation and methamphetamine. Children are placed in serious danger when parents or caregivers use this very addictive drug.
