Five Charged During Sting For Sale Of Alcohol To Minors

In a combined effort to combat the sale of alcohol to minors, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, with help from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and the Mulberry Police Department, charged 5 store clerks for selling alcohol to a person under 21 years of age.  
From August 15 to August 16, 2002, several stores were approached, and undercover police officers or agents under the age of 21 attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages.  Of the twelve
targeted locations, 5 sold the beverages to minors in violation of Florida Statute.

The five locations where clerks sold alcohol to a person under 21 are:

Circle K #00001, 1193 East Main Street, Bartow
Sarah’s Food Mart, 1410 East Main Street, Bartow
Highland City Market, 5447 U.S. Hwy 98 S, Highland City
Hess Station, 4785 U.S. Hwy 60 W, Mulberry
Texaco Gas Station, 2005 East Main Street, Lakeland

The following were charged with Sale of Alcohol to a Person Under 21 (M2):

Tommy W. Green, Jr., DOB 5/27/77, of 1193 East Main Street, Bartow
Khemais Miled Balti, DOB 5/16/72, of 1410 East Main Street, Bartow
Jong Seog Kim, DOB 10/17/73, of 5447 U.S. Hwy 98 S, Highland City
Pravin Rajput, DOB 3/15/66, of 126 Ponds Ave, Winter Haven
Hsiu LanTsai Chen, DOB 11/20/47, of 1858 East Elm Road, Lakeland

The investigation is continuing throughout Polk County.
