PCSO ERT Team Arrests First Degree Murder Suspect

Polk County Sheriff’s Office members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrested Lenyatta Leon Slaughter, DOB 11/15/78, of 200 Division Street in Ovieda, on Friday, August 23, 2002, on an Orange County warrant.  Earlier today, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office notified PCSO that they had received information that Slaughter was staying in a room at the Hampton Inn, 44177 U.S. Hwy 27 North, in Davenport.  The Orange County Sheriff’s Office had a warrant for Slaughter’s arrest for an incident that occurred on August 9, 2002, for one count of first degree murder, and 2 counts of attempted first degree murder.

The ERT team assembled in Loughman and arrived at the Hampton Inn parking lot Friday afternoon around 1:00 p.m.  Around 1:30 p.m. they apprehended Slaughter as he was leaving a nearby restaurant with takeout food.  Slaughter was taken into custody without incident, and is currently being questioned by Orange County detectives in Polk County.  It has not yet been determined whether Slaughter will be booked into the Polk County jail or be transported directly to Orange County today.  He will be held without bond.

For any information concerning Leon Slaughter, please contact Commander Roland Lacroix in the Orange County Sheriff’s Public Information Office at (407) 836-3710.
