PCSO Stresses Safety For Labor Day Weekend

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office will double its D.U.I. (Driving Under the Influence) Unit during the upcoming Labor Day weekend, Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2, 2002.  These deputies will be aggressively patrolling Polk County for impaired drivers and related infractions. Traffic deputies also continue to work with other state and local agencies to enforce safety belt use and child passenger safety as part of the statewide initiative "Click It or Ticket It" campaign.  This campaign is aimed at saving lives and preventing the senseless tragedies that often occur when motorists aren't properly buckled up.

Sheriff Crow reminds citizens to practice safety and be diligent this holiday weekend, especially when driving. The Sheriff also advises: “If you choose to drink, please drink responsibly, and ride with a designated driver — not just this weekend, but always.”
