Undercover Narcotics Detectives Arrest Polk Correctional Guard

After a joint investigation with the Polk Correctional Institute (PCI) in Polk City, FL, and the Inspector General of the FL Department of Corrections, detectives with the Polk County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Investigations Unit have arrested a guard employed by the Polk Correctional Institute.

Freddie McFarlane, DOB 7/20/69, was arrested around 9:00 a.m. on September 18, 2002, at his moonlighting job as a security guard at the Lakeland Square Mall in North Lakeland, after an undercover narcotics detective arranged to give him 2 ounces of cocaine and $400 to be smuggled into PCI.  Polk Sheriff's detectives received information from PCI that McFarlane has been involved in smuggling narcotics into the facility and providing them to inmates.  McFarlane has been booked into the Polk County Jail, where he has been
charged with Trafficking in Cocaine.
