Drug Suspect Recently Profiled In Crime Stoppers Ad Captured In Lake County

The North Combee community in Lakeland has utilized a $5,000 Neighborhood Matching Grant to purchase law enforcement equipment for the Polk County Sheriff's Office COPS (Community Oriented Policing) unit that serves that area.

Community members will present the newly purchased equipment to COPS Deputy Robert Boehmler this Thursday, Oct.  3, 2002, at the Sesame Grotto Building located on Morgan Combee Road.

Community members used matching grant funds from the Office of Neighborhood Revitalization to purchase a radar unit, handheld breathalyzer, digital camera and tint meter for the North Combee COPS unit. Two engravers also have been purchased. The engravers will be used in the community to label property so that it can be identified if stolen.

The special equipment will allow COPS deputies to offer enhanced enforcement to the North Combee community in the areas of speeding, DUI enforcement, crime investigation and various other community related areas of concern.
