Youth Center Dedicated To Former Polk Sergeant Mary Campbell

News media representatives are invited to attend the dedication of a facility in Lake Wales to honor Sergeant Mary Campbell, who passed away last year.  The Polk County Board of County Commissioners, through Community Development Block Grant funds that Sgt. Campbell was instrumental in obtaining, authorized and built a center to be used for daycare and after school care in Highland Park Manor.

The dedication ceremony is slated for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2002 at the facility, located at 2226 Karen Street in Highland Park Manor, Lake Wales.  The name of the building is the Mary Norma Campbell Youth Center, and once hiring is complete, it will house a daycare facility for up to 27 infants through four-year-olds.  The Highland Park Neighborhood Association, who worked closely with Mary Campbell and helped make her vision a reality, will also run an after school program for 50 children at the center.

The child care programs are mainly for families needing assistance, and are based upon incomee ligibility.  For further information about these programs, please contact Agriculture and Labor Program, Inc. at (863) 956-3491.
