Lakeland Woman Arrested For Forgery, Theft from Home Patient in Her Care 

Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested a Lakeland woman on Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, for using unauthorized checks to steal from a home patient in her care.

Shondra Anthony, DOB 6/20/77, of 1315 West 14th Street  Apt. I-109 in Lakeland, was arrested and charged with:

  • Forgery (four counts)
  • Uttering Forged Instruments (four counts)
  • Petit Theft (four counts)

Investigation revealed that the suspect, who is employed through Interim Health Services in Winter Haven, had started buying groceries and paying bills for a 60-year-old Lakeland home patient in her care. The victim suffers from a debilitating disease, and was receiving medical assistance at home through the health services agency.

During the months of September-October, the suspect wrote unauthorized checks in excess of amounts owed for the victim's bills, and then kept the extra cash.  The suspect wrote a total of $830 in unauthorized checks, keeping an undetermined amount of cash for herself.

The suspect  was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail. The investigation is continuing.
