Stabbing Leaves Auburndale Man In Critical Condition

Polk County Sheriff's deputies responded to a stabbing yesterday (Monday, April 8) at 3030 Old Dixie Highway in Auburndale, that left Danny To, A/M, DOB 3/7/49, in critical condition.

At approximately 11 a.m., Lenny Johnson, B/M, DOB 10/15/82, of 3015 Allread St. Apt. A in Auburndale, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Bruce, W/F DOB 10/25/82, of the same address, had an argument while on the way to Bruce's mother's residence located at 3030 Old Dixie Highway in Auburdale.

After arriving at the residence of Terry Colon (Bruce's mother, W/F, DOB 8/7/62) and her fiancÚ, Danny To, the argument between Johnson and Bruce escalated.  To attempted to intervene in the argument and the situation became violent.  Johnson grabbed a screwdriver from his vehicle and stabbed To once in the back of the head and once in the chest.  To was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

Johnson and Bruce fled from the scene in a yellow and blue Cadillac. At 11:30 a.m. (25 minutes after the stabbing), a Polk County Sheriff's Office patrol deputy spotted a similar Cadillac occupied by a male and female at the intersection of Hwy. 92 and Berkley Rd. in Auburndale. The deputy made a traffic stop on the vehicle, and arrested Johnson.

Johnson was charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Possession of Less Than 20 Grams of Cannabis.  Murder charges may be brought against Johnson if To does not survive.  Bruce was not charged in the incident.
