Resources Members Earn Prestigious Certification
Two members of the
Polk County Sheriff's Office Human Resources Division have earned
certification as human resources professionals while a third has earned
renewed certification for an additional 3-year period. The members
successfully passed a comprehensive 4-hour examination covering seven
categories of human resources expertise administered by the Human
Resources Certification Institute.
Additionally, five members successfully completed 10 courses in specific
categories of human resources management for the Human Resources
Management Certificate Program at the University of South Florida. A sixth
member completed a Human Resources Generalist Certificate Program
conducted by the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). Two other
members are scheduled to complete the USF Management Certificate
requirements this year.
"Achieving these prestigious credentials is solid evidence of the level of
professionalism and dedication demonstrated by members of the Sheriff's
Office's Human Resources Division," said Colonel Grady Judd, Director of
the PCSO's Department of Administration. "Members of the Human Resources
Division have set the standard for civilian members of the Sheriff's
Office to achieve professional certification in their individual
professions. other Sheriff's Office members currently are pursuing
professional certifications to further the agency's commitment to
professionalism and competency."
Human Resources Director Floyd S. Hulsey earned 3-year certification as a
Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) in May of 2000. He
recently earned re-certification for an additional 3-year period by
publishing a book on police recruitment, teaching human resources training
courses and attending training seminars. Hulsey has been employed by the
Sheriff's Office more than 21 years. He received his B.S. degree
from the University of Florida and his Master's of Public Administration
degree from the University of South Florida.
Benefits Manager Rudy Bovier earned her SPHR certification in May 2001
after joining the Sheriff's Office in October 2000. She has more
than 25 years experience in human resources, most recently with the
Florida Department of Corrections. She received her B.S. degree from San
Jose (California) State University and her MBA degree from Pepperdine
Staffing Manager Jennifer Williams earned her Professional of Human
Resources (PHR) certification in May 2001 after joining the Sheriff's
Office in August 2000. She has human resources experience with private
sector employers and with the U.S. Army in Germany. Ms. Williams received
her B.A. degree from the University of Miami (Florida).
