Missing Person James Moore Found Unharmed

At approximately 8:40 a.m. today, Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives located 70 year-old James Moore, who had been missing from the Partner Care Assisted Living Facility in Bartow since Wednesday (March 6, 2002).

At 8:30 a.m. this morning, Polk Sheriff's Detective Regina Moran received information from a female (who is a distant relative) who was delivering photographs to the PCSO Missing Persons Unit that a man fitting Moore's description was leaning against a fence near the intersection of Bomber Rd. and Hwy. 17 in Bartow.

Shortly after receiving the tip, Detective Moran went to the location where the distant relative said she had seen the individual.  The man was in fact James Moore.  After EMS confirmed that Moore was in good health, he was returned to the Partner Care Assisted Living Facility.

Moore told Detective Moran he left the facility because he thought the social security income that paid the facility to take care of him was cancelled. After leaving the facility on Wednesday, March 6, 2002, Moore occupied an abandoned building on a lot near the intersection of Bomber Rd. and Hwy. 17 in Bartow.
