Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a Davenport woman on January 10, 2003, after the Davenport Police Department received a threat from her against one of their officers. Karen Batchelor, DOB 9/22/57, of 1009 C.R. 547 in Davenport, called the Davenport Police Department on Jan. 9 around 10:00 p.m. and stated twice that she would shoot DPD Officer James Collinsworth if he stepped onto her property.
Although Batchelor lives outside the city limits of Davenport, she has had numerous dealings with DPD, having committed crimes within the city in the past. Batchelor has an extensive criminal history dating back two years, and has been arrested 8 times on charges such as Petit Theft, Forgery, DWLSR, Aggravated Stalking, and Battery Domestic Violence.
After conferring with the State Attorney's
Office on this case, a PCSO Detective was dispatched to Batchelor's
residence, where she admitted post-Miranda that she had threatened to
shoot Officer Collinsworth. Batchelor was subsequently arrested
without incident and charged with Extortion. She remains in the Polk
County Jail under $5,000 bond.
