Undercover Operation Targets Underage Sale of Alcohol

A joint undercover operation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office School Resource Unit and the State of Florida Beverage Unit targeting the sale of alcohol to underage customers at convenience stores resulted in the arrest of three store clerks on Wednesday, May 14, 2003.

During the operation, the following were arrested for selling alcoholic beverages to an underage undercover "customer:"

  • Yuchin Lin, DOB 2/16/59, of 3520 Cleveland Heights Blvd. #148 in Lakeland, store clerk at Texaco located at 3501 Cleveland Heights Blvd. in Lakeland.
  • Veronica Tucker, DOB 5/4/69, of 511 Westover Street in Lakeland,   store clerk at Speedway located at 4612 Cleveland Heights Blvd. in Lakeland.
  • Vrajesh Patel, DOB 1/22/67, of St. Pete, store clerk at Texaco located at 4607 South Florida Avenue in Lakeland.

All three were charged with one count Selling an Alcoholic Beverage to a Person under 21 Years of Age.

The operation targeted a total of 17 convenience stores in the county. The above listed suspects were the only clerks to sell alcohol  to the underage "customer."
