Fort Meade Store Clerk Arrested For Sale of Obscene Material

In a joint undercover operation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office Bureau of Special Investigations and the Fort Meade Police Department, a Fort Meade store clerk was arrested today (Tuesday, May 20, 2003) for selling obscene materials.

Mohammed Islam, DOB 12/12/65, of Avon Park, was arrested today and charged with the following:

  • 1 count Wholesale Promotion of Obscene Materials (F3)
  • 14 counts Possession of Obscene Materials with Intent to Sell (M)
  • 14 counts Sale of Obscene Materials (M)

During the six-week undercover operation, the suspect sold 14 video tapes of obscene material to undercover detectives from  a Fort Meade convenience store - Mak's Discount Beverages located at 822 US Highway 17 - on two different occasions. The obscene materials were kept in a back room of the store.

The suspect was arrested at the store and booked into the Polk County Jail on $15,000 bond.
