PCSO Has Creative Ways to Raise Money for the Heart Walk

This year, the Polk County Sheriff's Office has again come up with some creative and fun ways to raise money for the American Heart Association "Heart Walk" campaign, and all are invited to attend:

  • Wednesday, September 3, 2003, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.:  Sgt. Gary Klinger of the Missing Persons Unit performs in concert at the Stuart Center in Bartow.  Tickets are $5.00 and include hamburgers, hot dogs, and entertainment.
  • Attendees can also purchase balls to throw at a dunking booth featuring the following Sheriff's Office and State Attorney's Office personnel: Major W.J. Martin of the Criminal Investigation Division, Captain Timothy Holleyman of the Southeast District, Captain Andy Ray of the Southwest District, Captain Dennis Russell of the Special Operations Division, and Sam Cardinale of the State Attorney's Office.  (Additional dunkees to be announced.)
  • Friday, September 5, 2003, 8:00 a.m.:  Charity Golf Tournament at Ridgewood Lakes Golf & Country Club in Davenport.  Cost is $55.00 per player, format is four person best-ball, and lunch is sponsored by Americom.  Contact Captain Andy Ray if interested at 863-534-6394.
  • Friday, September 12, 2003, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.:  Polk County Sheriff's deputies will deliver Hungry Howie's Pizzas and donate all tips to the Heart Walk, in the U.S. Hwy 92 & Combee Road delivery area.
  • The Heart Walk - to be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Winter Haven PCC campus - is an amateur, non-competitive event, designed for fun, exercise and wellness promotion. Funds raised through the Heart Walk campaign support research, community service, and public and professional education programs. Please support the fight against heart disease and stroke - the leading causes of death in America.

**Media is encouraged to attend, participate in, and help publicize these fundraising events.
