PCSO Invites Public To Crime Prevention Open House

The public and media representatives are invited to attend a "Crime Prevention Open House" at the Polk County Sheriff's Office Main Operations Center, 455 North Broadway in Bartow, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2004.

The Open House will feature new and exciting tools offered to the public by the Crime Prevention Unit, such as:

  • PC - the Patrol Car -- a remote-controlled car that interacts with children and provides safety information in a fun and entertaining atmosphere. PC will talk to kids about trusting law enforcement and viewing Deputy Sheriffs as friends.
  • Identi-Kid -- a program geared for children under the age of 12. A picture I.D. with thumb print and vital information about each child is presented free of charge per child. This is an important means of child protection and family safety.
  • "COMPUTER COP" interactive software will also be demonstrated. This program allows parents to monitor their children's activities online, and is a vital step in fighting computer crimes against minors.

For more information, please contact the Crime Prevention Unit at 863-534-6677.
