Businesses Urged to Sign up for New "Fax" Program To Receive PCSO Alerts
The Polk County Sheriff's Office Crime
Prevention Unit is urging Polk businesses to sign up for the new FAX
(Facts Alert Xchange) program in order to receive local news alerts and
information important to the business community.
Business representatives who sign up for FAX will receive faxed notices
about relevant information such as business watch meetings, crime trend
alerts and other business-related items that affect the business
FAX will provide timely warnings and alerts to the business community on
an as-needed basis.
"We've found that an effective way to combat crime and its effects is to
partner with the community. By utilizing this equipment, we can quickly
alert businesses regarding trends or breaking crime events, thereby
reducing the number of potential victims," said Colonel Grady Judd. "FAX
notification of bad checks being circulated, counterfeit bills or
robberies will enable businesses to be prepared for suspicious persons
or activities and encourage immediate reporting of those activities.
Working together, we can make a positive difference," he said.
To sign up for FAX, business representatives are asked to e-mail the
name of their business and fax number to the PCSO Crime Prevention Unit
at email@example.com or fax the information to 534-6645.
