PCSO Receives Generous Grant From Anonymous Donor

The Polk County Sheriff's Office was recently awarded a grant in the amount of $30,000 from the Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland, for vocational training at the Polk County Juvenile Boot Camp.

The Sheriff's Office submitted a training proposal to the Foundation, and a very generous anonymous donor funded the entire proposal. The goal for this money is to ensure that every youth has a learned trade, and is awarded a vocational certificate, upon completion of the Boot Camp program. Sheriff Crow is very excited about this opportunity to provide valuable training and skills to the Boot Camp recruits, at no cost to taxpayers.

The Foundation has two funding cycles per year, and while they don’t usually fund governmental agency programs, they are interested in programs that address problems to be solved in the greater Lakeland are. Specific interests include community enablement, education, emergency needs, neighborhood improvement, senior programs, and youth.
