Public Safety Night at Joker Marchant Stadium
For the second year in a row, the Lakeland
Tigers Organization, sponsored in part by Riverside National Bank, is
hosting "Public Safety Night" at Joker Marchant Stadium.
This year's event will be bigger than ever. On Saturday, June 26, 2004,
the day will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a softball tournament, including
amateur teams from law enforcement and public safety agencies. The
tournament will end in a championship game at 5:00 p.m., after which the
festivities will begin.
An awards ceremony to the softball winners, and special presentations
from Riverside Bank and the Lakeland Tigers to the Polk County Sheriff's
Office, will start at 6:00 p.m. Then the first pitch of the Lakeland
Tigers vs. Tampa Yankees game, at 7:00 p.m., will be tossed by Polk
County Sheriff's Deputy Robert Arndt, the Polk County Law Enforcement
Officer of the Year for 2003.
From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., safety equipment from local public safety
agencies will be on display in the parking lot. Raffles and a silent
auction will also take place, with proceeds going to the Polk County Law
Enforcement Memorial expansion project.
After the Lakeland Tigers game, Riverside Bank will choose 3 lucky
raffle ticket winners to participate in a "Splash for Cash", prior to an
exciting fireworks display.
Tickets for the event cost $4.00, for admission to the softball
tournament and subsequent baseball game. Advance tickets only will be
accepted for admission. Proceeds from all ticket sales will go to the
Polk County Law Enforcement Memorial expansion project.
Tickets are being sold at local Riverside National Bank branch offices,
and by members of the Polk County Sheriff's Office and other local
agencies. Call 287-3344 or 287-1762 for more information.
Media representative are encouraged to highlight and attend this event.
