during the onslaught and aftermath of Hurricane Frances:
DURING THE STORM:
Do not call 911 or the main Sheriff's Office non-emergency number unless
absolutely necessary. Depending on the severity of the storm, emergency
response agencies may have limited resources and capabilities.
AFTER THE STORM:
Be a good neighbor - check on each
other to ensure everyone around you is safe and able to survive
during the aftermath.
Stay indoors after dark.
Be careful around downed power lines.
If traffic signals are inoperable,
treat all intersections with the "4-way stop" rule. Be courteous
and cautious of other drivers.
Do not leave your residence after the
storm has cleared the area if it is during the evening.
Do not drive around after the storm
has cleared the area, whether it is day or night, unless
Be very careful of flooded areas,
especially when driving. Floodwaters can be swift-moving and
much deeper and more dangerous than they look - do not attempt
to negotiate floodwaters in your vehicle.
