Detention Deputy Arrested, Charged With Filing False Report

A PCSO Detention Deputy was arrested today (Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005) and charged with Filing a False Report of a Crime (M1) and False 911 Call (M1).

Hamp Johnson III, DOB 8/875, was arrested and charged with the above charges after falsely claiming that four suspects had burglarized his vehicle this morning and stolen his agency-issued firearm (.45 caliber handgun) after a short struggle. At approximately 2:21 am this morning, Johnson called 911 to report the false burglary and theft. During the ensuing investigation, it was determined that Johnson's report was false and the burglary of his vehicle and theft of his firearm had not occurred.  He was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail. He is suspended without pay pending a PCSO administrative review.

Johnson was hired by the PCSO Department of Detention in December of 1998, and his most recent assignment was in detention records.
