Sheriff's Office Searching for Developmentally (Mentally) Handicapped Woman, 26-Year Old Veronica Mojica of Ft Meade

Bartow.  Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office are searching for a missing young woman from Fort Meade, 26-year-old Veronica Mojica.  She was last seen on Saturday afternoon at about 2:00 p.m. walking northbound along side U.S. Highway 17 north Ft. Meade, near Stedem Ford (3200 Hwy 17 N. Ft. Meade).  She was last seen wearing a brown sweater, brown shorts, and brown sandals with a white flower decoration.  She has shorter-in- length brown curly hair, brown eyes, medium complexion and she is 5'7" tall and 170 lbs.  Veronica's family describes her as having the approximate mental capacity of a 10 year old.

A search with a bloodhound, helicopter, and deputies on foot was conducted last night.  Another bloodhound and general search is in progress today (August 14, 2005).
