Sheriff's Office Arrests Edward D. Massengill on Florida Parole Commission Warrant (Parole Violation
on 2nd Degree Murder)

Bartow.  Detectives with the Polk County Sheriff's Office arrested 42-year-old Edward D. Massengill, of 208 Snively Avenue, #8, (Eloise) Winter Haven at approximately 10:30 p.m. last night, Monday, August 15, 2005 on a parole violation warrant in the area of Snively Avenue and 2nd Street in Eloise.  He has also been charged by deputies with resisting arrest without violence.  He is being held in the Polk County Jail without bond.

Massengill was convicted on one count of 2nd degree murder and was found not guilty by reason of insanity (one count) four the August 1990 killings of 22-year-old Rena Milian and 17-year-old Valentin Gutierrez Diaz, both of Winter Haven.  Massengill was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
