PCSO Detectives Arrest Winter Haven Woman for Attempted Murder Committed on Christmas Eve

On Thursday, January 1, 2015, after extensive investigation, PCSO detectives arrested 42-year-old Marilyn "Dannette" Deboer of 9 Flamingo Blvd in Winter Haven and charged her with one count Attempted Murder and other charges related to an incident that occurred on Christmas Eve when Deboer stole a package off of a man's porch and then intentionally ran the man over in her car and then fled the scene. She had a warrant for her arrest for Violation of Probation when she was arrested for the current charges.

"Marilyn "Dannette" Deboer maliciously and intentionally ran over this victim in an attempt to take his life, after stealing from him. She's a dangerous felon with a criminal history, and thanks to tips from the public and excellent police work, we were able to put her back in jail where she belongs." - Sheriff Grady Judd

According to the affidavit, around 3:35 p.m. on December 24, 2014, the victim and his family were returning home to Hidden Creek Lane in Winter Haven when they observed an unknown female walking to a grey Kia Sportage that was parked in the victim's driveway. The unknown female was carrying a package that the victim quickly realized she had taken off of his (the victim's) porch. After the suspect backed her vehicle out of the victim's driveway, the victim stood in front of her and yelled for her to stop. The suspect then intentionally accelerated her vehicle, striking the victim with the front end of it and causing him to be thrown over the hood and windshield. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to LRMC where he is in stable but serious condition.

After extensive investigation, including review of area surveillance videos, neighborhood canvassing, and multiple interviews with witnesses, the suspect was positively identified as Marilyn Deboer. During the incident she was accompanied by her live-in boyfriend, Ray "Bo" Spiker. The suspect vehicle was also positively identified.

On January 1, 2014, Winter Haven P.D. received a tip that Marilyn and Bo were at the Budget Inn at 401 6th Street NW in Winter Haven. WHPD and PCSO responded to the hotel and took them both into custody. Bo Spiker gave a full confession of the incident and confirmed Marilyn Deboer stole the package off of the porch and then intentionally ran over the victim. Deboer was booked into the Polk County Jail and charged with: one count Felony Attempted Murder, one count Burglary, one count Felony Petit Theft, and 7 counts Violation of Probation. She has been in the Polk County Jail on 16 prior occasions.

We still need the public's help to locate the suspect vehicle that Deboer was driving that evening. The vehicle is a grey 2001 Kia Sportage with FL tag F22 1QV, with a black hood, minor front end damage, and a plexiglass back window.

If you have information about this suspect vehicle you may be eligible for a CASH REWARD of up to $1000. Call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477) - and remain completely anonymous!
