 Operation Pop Top Results  


On Friday, February 2, 2018, PCSO deputies, along with the assistance of a PCSO Explorer (high school student volunteer), conducted “Operation Pop Top” in an effort to combat the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors in the Winter Haven area. 7 stores were checked and 5 were in compliance.

"We are consistently encouraged that the vast majority of retailers in our area comply with the laws prohibiting selling alcohol to minors. We thank them for their diligence. Those who do not comply will be held accountable.”  Grady Judd, Sheriff

The following stores were in compliance: 

RaceTrac – 934 Havendale Boulevard NW, Winter Haven

Wawa – 1490 3rd Street SW, Winter Haven

Marathon – 795 Cypress Gardens Boulevard, Winter Haven

Circle K – 5600 Cypress Gardens Road, Winter Haven

7-Eleven – 7011 Cypress Gardens Boulevard, Winter Haven

20-year-old Lauren Hampton of Winter Haven, who works at the Mobil Gas Station located at 1200 3rd Street SW in Winter Haven, was arrested for sale of alcohol to a minor.

32-year-old Travis Simpson of Waverly, who works at Murphy Gas Station located at 7454 Cypress Gardens Boulevard in Winter Haven, was arrested for sale of alcohol to a minor.
