Polk County Sheriff's Robbery detectives positively identified and arrested 32-year-old William David Mounts (DOB 7/18/1980) of Mulberry as the suspect wanted in two armed robberies that occurred in Polk County on Saturday, February 16, 2013.
Mounts already had a Plant City P.D. warrant issued for his arrest for a bank robbery that occurred in Plant City, and a U.S. Marshals Service warrant for his arrest for Violation of Probation. Please contact those agencies for information on those warrants.
While out looking for Mounts, PCSO detectives spotted him around 3:25 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2013, in Lakeland, and placed him under arrest for the aforementioned warrants. Mounts subsequently confessed to committing the Polk County robberies at the BP gas station and the Circle K store.
The first robbery occurred just after midnight/during the early morning hours at 12:39 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013. A masked suspect armed with a silver colored semi-automatic handgun robbed the Circle K Gas Station located at County Line Road and Cornett Road in Lakeland.
The second robbery occurred around 10:02 p.m. later that evening, on Saturday, February 16, 2013. A similarly masked and armed suspect robbed the BP Gas Station at Pipkin Road and Yates Road in Lakeland.
Mounts has been booked into the Polk County Jail where he remains on no bond for the out-of-county warrants.
Mounts has been in the Polk County Jail on four prior occasions:
March 2002 - Armed Robbery, Armed Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, Escape and Burglary (Okeechobee County charges)
November 2003 - Armed Robbery, Wearing Bulletproof Vest During Felony, Resisting Arrest, Fleeing to Elude, Possession of Marijuana & Paraphernalia, DWLSR, Reckless Driving
July 2011 - VOP
August 2012 - Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
