PCSO Detectives Arrest Three Suspects, Clear 18 Vehicle Burglaries and Armed Robbery

On Thursday, February 18, 2015, PCSO detectives identified and arrested three suspects, ages 14, 15, and 18 years old, for a rash of vehicle burglaries that occurred during the early morning hours of February 16, 2015, in the Neptune Dr, Galvin Dr, Crosby St, Lake Holloway Blvd, and Ellerbe Way areas of Lakeland. The suspects were also charged in other ongoing investigations.

Around 3:15 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2015, a PCSO deputy on patrol observed three males walking on Neptune Drive towards Skyview Drive – when he stopped to talk to them, they fled on foot. The deputy then discovered a car door partially open on Neptune Drive. When he approached the car, he noted it appeared to be ransacked on the inside. The deputy called for a canine unit to respond. During a K-9 track, deputies discovered a vehicle emergency roadside kit that appeared to have been abandoned in a vacant yard. The kit was positively identified as belonging to the resident on Neptune Drive, whose car had been burglarized.

That same morning, a male suspect reached into a Ford pickup truck parked at a home on Galvin Drive. At the time, someone was sleeping inside the truck. When the victim awoke, he startled the burglary suspect, who fled with two others. The victim described the three suspects as three light-skinned black male suspects in their teens wearing hooded sweatshirts, fleeing south on Galvin Drive.

On February 18, 2015, detectives made contact with 18-year-old Adrian Chisolm of New Port Richey, who had a warrant for his arrest for Grand Theft of Motor Vehicle and Vehicle Burglary. The warrant is related to a February 3, 2015, investigation during which a victim’s car was broken into and the ignition damaged in an attempt to steal it. Latent prints recovered from that car positively matched Chisolm’s, and detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest on February 11, 2015.

After he was placed under arrest, detectives searched his residence, and recovered two Garmin GPS devices and a cell phone. All three items were confirmed stolen from vehicles parked at residences on Neptune Drive, Country Club Lane, and Neptune Drive.

During the investigation, 15-year-old Korenthian White of 1342 Moonlight Drive in Lakeland, was identified as one of the suspects who was burglarizing vehicles with Chisolm. A bag belonging to White and containing a firearm, was located with Chisolm’s possessions. White admitted to detectives that the bag and the firearm belonged to him. White was on juvenile probation for possession of a weapon on school property. He was placed under arrest.

Post-Miranda, both Chisolm and White admitted to burglarizing several vehicles in the area of Crystal Lake Middle School (near Neptune Drive). Chisolm also admitted to burglarizing a residence on Goodyear Avenue in January 2015, stealing a video camera, and pawning it at Cash America for $40.00.

Adrian Chisolm has been booked into the Polk County Jail and charged with:

·         17 counts Vehicle Burglary

·         10 counts Petit Theft

·         3 counts Grand Theft

·         Dealing in Stolen Property

·         Giving False Verification to Pawn Dealer

·         Burglary of Dwelling

·         Burglary of Occupied Vehicle

Chisolm’s criminal history includes grand theft of motor vehicle, criminal mischief, grand theft, burglary, trespassing, and narcotics violations.

Korenthian White was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center and charged with:

·         12 counts Vehicle Burglary

·         7 counts Petit Theft

·         Burglary of Occupied Vehicle

·         Grand Theft

·         Possession of Firearm by Juvenile

·         Violation of Juvenile Probation

White’s criminal history includes burglary, possession of weapon on school property, and VOP. After White’s arrest, PCSO Robbery detectives received information that White was possibly involved in the armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver that occurred on December 29, 2014, at 1903 Jupiter Street in Lakeland. On February 18, 2015, PCSO Robbery Detectives responded to the PCSO substation where White had been taken into custody to interview him in reference to the robbery investigation. White confessed to committing the robbery with 14-year-old John Borgen of 1806 Jupiter Street in Lakeland. White was additionally charged with Armed Robbery. Detectives responded to Borgen’s home and placed him under arrest. He is also being charged with Armed Robbery.

The third suspect in the vehicle burglary investigation was positively identified as 14-year-old Julio Alcantara of 1346 Crystal Hills Drive in Lakeland. Alcantara was arrested on February 10, 2015, for vehicle burglary. Detectives made contact with him and interviewed him about the ongoing investigation into the vehicle burglary trend. Alcantara told detectives that he met up with Chisolm and White during the early morning hours of February 16, 2015, and broke into several cars in the Neptune Drive area.

Julio Alcantara was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center and charged with:

·         12 counts Vehicle Burglary

·         7 counts Petit Theft

·         Burglary of Occupied Vehicle

·         Grand Theft

Alcantara’s criminal history includes vehicle burglary.

“Two theories were proven during this investigation: cars that are unsecured are more likely to be burglarized, and the suspect who will steal a cell phone from an unlocked car is likely the same suspect who will commit even more serious crimes elsewhere. I commend our deputies and detectives for their tenacity in solving this rash of burglaries, an armed robbery, and a residential burglary.” – Sheriff Grady Judd
