 Operation Pop Top Results 


On Thursday, February 24, 2011, Polk County Sheriff's School Resource deputies and PCSO Explorers (Explorers are high school student volunteers), conducted "Operation Pop Top" in an effort to combat the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors. The operation was conducted in the West Auburndale and Polk City areas of the county. 

During the operation, an attempt to purchase alcohol was made at 5 stores, with 4 in compliance. 

25-year-old Heather Elyce Bessinger, DOB 4/14/85, of 1234 Reynolds Road Lot 171 in Lakeland, was arrested and charged with one count Sale of Alcohol to a Person Under 21. Heather works at the Circle K Store located at 2200 US Hwy 92 West in Auburndale.

The following stores were found to be in compliance with Florida Law and did not sell an alcoholic beverage to person under 21:

 A-1 Discount Beverage, located at 1042 Berkley Road in Auburndale; 

Auburndale Food Store, located at 1115 Berkley Road in Auburndale; 

Shell Station, located at 1795 Denton Road in Auburndale; 

BP Station, located at 8919 Mt. Olive Road in Polk City
